Initiated in 2017, it serves as a comprehensive framework for understanding and measuring knowledge-related performance globally.

About the GKI

The GKI offers an invaluable perspective on the diverse aspects of knowledge and development, crucial for shaping informed development policies. It encompasses seven composite sub-indices, covering sectors like education, ICT, research, development, and economy, all set against a backdrop of enabling factors. The 2023 edition continues to utilize the refined methodology introduced in 2021. Looking ahead to 2024, the GKI is set for an upgrade to reflect the dynamic realities of global development, in a continuous effort to keep the index relevant and adaptive to changing global trends.
